RIP Steve Jobs – Here’s What They’re Saying About You

Regardless of how you felt about Apple products, there’s no denying that Apple was Steve jobs – a remarkable man whose technological vision was surpassed only by his ability to sell it.

Rather than writing yet another dissertation about the man’s life & accomplishments, I’m instead passing-along what others who’ve met him have said.

Clearly, the man was admired by everyone even remotely interested in technology:

“Steve Jobs was the greatest inventor since Thomas Edison. He put the world at our fingertips” ~ Steven Spielberg

“He always seemed to be able to say in very few words what you actually should have been thinking before you thought it.” ~ Larry Page, CEO of Google

Ann Curry of NBC News chose to remember Steve by sharing one of his own quotes:  ”Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. ” ~ Steve Jobs

“Steve was among the greatest of American innovators – brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it.”  ~ President Barack Obama

“A truly great businessman. Inspiration to so many. A real Family man. He will be sorely missed” ~ Sir Richard Branson

“Sending love & light to everyone @Apple & the entire Jobs family. Today we lost a Giant who will be missed even by those who didn’t know him.” ~ Ashton Kutcher, actor & technology investor

“The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely.” ~ Bill Gates

“Steve, thank you for being a mentor and a friend. Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world. I will miss you.” ~ Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO

Is The New iPhone “Too Little, Too Late?”

Today was the day that Apple fans were waiting for – The announcement of the new iPhone.

The rumors have been percolating for weeks, but what was unveiled was, at best, a stop-gap to slow the assault of Android as the dominant mobile operating system.

Instead of the rumored “iPhone 5″ the folks in Cupertino unveiled the “iPhone 4s,” which does anything but impress.

This new iPhone’s display remains puny, when compared with the 4″+ touchscreens on some of the better Android phones. Its camera has been updated to 8 megapixels, but again, that just helps it catch-up to some of the high-end Android devices.

Dolphin Web Browser For Smartphones

Like many people carrying a smartphone these days, I prefer the Android platform. Not only is it free from Apple’s dictatorship, it’s the best (and easiest) way to synchronize email, calendars, and documents with a Google Apps for Business account in near real-time.

That’s why the majority of my clients use it as well.

So, I’ve set-up & configured a lot of Android phones for people, and have always been frustrated with Android’s big shortcoming… It’s web browser isn’t the fastest, most feature rich thing around, which I always found surprising, since Google (Android’s maker) is behing the best web browser for computers – Google chrome.

So, one of the first things I do when I set-up a new Android phone, is to replace the stock browser, and my current browser of choice is Dolphin Browser HD from Mobo Tap.
