Google’s Chrome Browser Emerges from “Beta”

I have to admit, I was pretty suprised when Google released its own web browser a few months back.
After all, it was really looking like they’d bitten off more than they could chew.
But, Google is the #1 web brand, and (it’s claimed) “the “best and the brightest” worked there, once, so…
I took a look, and wow… There were some shortcomings… There was no support for extensions, there were a lot of privacy concerns, and (surprise?)… It still had the Google “Beta” designation (it seems that everything from Google is in perpetual beta).
Nonetheless, when it came out of beta the other day, I decided to give it another shot, and here’s the deal:
It’s pretty quick.
PC Magaine claims that Chrome is significantly faster than either IE or Firefox at rendering complex pages, but the fact remains that it still doesn’t support extensions, and that’s disappointing.
The “show-stopper” for me is that I can’t synchronize bookmarks.
I use a number of computers (desktop, laptop, and handheld), and count-on Firefox because the Foxmarks extension ensures that a bookmark, or password I create on one device, is available on all my machines.
Google may get there one day… Until then…. Ummm…. Let’s cross our fingers!
Edit: 2009-10-09…. Another thing holding me back, has been the fact that Chrome rudely used to reset custom color profiles (under Windows Vista), which rendered it unusable for professional graphic artists, and photographers. It appears as though the folks at Google have fixed that bug in the latest releases!!
However, now, it’s “broken” with WordPress?
